Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ! I am Jan Burnett, newest member of the pastoral team at Faith United Methodist Church. Our team uses Ephesians 4 as our guide as we work together: to be "Pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ."
Pastor Walden, Pastor Dave and I meet together to plan the five worship services held each week at Humboldt, Gilmore City, Rutland and Livormore. At the present time we are rotating preaching assignments. It has been a great way for me to meet our worshiping congregation. It is an honor and privilege to lead worship, preach, serve Holy Communion and officiate at baptisms in these ministry settings.
Together the pastors relate to the Staff-Parish Committee, the Worship Committee and the Administrative Council. We also rotate responsibilities for pastoral care in hospitals, hospice, care centers and home visits. We take the prayer ministry very seriously and have delivered a good number of prayer shawls. What a joy it has been to see the faces of people receiving the prayer shawls and to know that they are being prayed for!
We also work closely with the Education Committee. Pastor Walden coaches educational ministries serving adults. Pastor Dave coaches the educational ministries serving youth including Confirmation, Youth Fellowship and youth Bible studies. I am responsible for coaching, encouraging and resourcing the Sunday School, After School Friends, and Wednesday Night Alive at the Humboldt Center. As a part of the Wednesday Night Alive, I teach the Lord's Prayer Study and a book study entitled "Seizing the Moments" by James Moore. I also assist with the After School Program at Gilmore City.
I am grateful for the many acts of hospitality, kindness, care, concern and love I have received since coming to Faith United Methodist Church. It is a privilege and honor to work with Pastor Walden, Pastor Dave, the staff and all of the leaders and members who are wanting to "Know Christ and to Make Christ Known."
In gratitude,
Pastor Jan Burnett
