Lord’s Acre of Giving
Thanks to everyone who attended our 1st Annual Lord’s Acre of Giving Blessing Service on Saturday, June 12th, 2010. It was a wonderful success with so many people involved, and over 50 people in attendance as we Worshiped God together out on the farm. A special thanks to everyone who was involved; it was a blessing to see how everyone came together to have a lot of Christian fellowship and fun. We look forward to having everyone come and be part of our “Fall Lord’s Acre Harvest Worship and Noon Dinner” on Sunday, July 29th at 11:00 a.m. at the Coleman farm. Hope to see you all there!
Sunday School Needs:
Dear Faith Friends,
We recently toured our Sunday School rooms to see what we will need when Learn & Play leaves. Basically we have 6 small tables and 56+ chairs. The other toys are gone, so we would like to know if you know of anyone getting rid of sturdy play toys?
Little workbenches, kitchen sets, trucks, tractors, etc...anything from Nursery to Kindergarten. If you go to garage sales, keep your eyes open, but try to keep them sturdy and not just an easily broken toy, if possible. AND eye appealing-not in bad shape or missing pieces, please. Lego, blocks. Or if you would like to donate money so we can purchase things for our rooms, that would be fantastic. Remember if your grandkids are done with things-that would work, too. Little Tikes, Fisher Price and Leap Frog are really built well.
If you hear of someone wanting to part with these things, please give me a call, or Denise Hartford. We have no shelves for books, no books, no puzzles. CD-radio players are needed.

Youth and Confirmation News
Hello everyone! I hope your summer is going well so far. I just have a few brief things to share with you about what’s going on.
First of all let me share about the Potato Bar Fundraiser for the “Youth Passion Play” Trip in August. Christy Meyer and Kris May have done a great job in organizing this event, and the youth really have stepped up to the plate. They served over 80 people who came through to support this event, and they took in over 600 dollars that will help with the trip. I heard so many compliments about the youth and how eager they were in serving the meal that day, and how they were so hospitable to all the guests. Thanks to all of you for the volunteer help and the financial support for the youth during this event. They now have plenty of funds to go on the trip. Please keep all of them in your prayers as they begin planning this trip.
Lastly, I want to encourage all of the upcoming 7th and 8th students to be thinking about Confirmation. It is a great program, and we have great teachers who always give 110%. It is a time of discernment and learning about the confirmand’s faith, and it’s also a time to know the joy that Jesus gives to each of us as He comes into our hearts. We also want to encourage the parents to get involved with their daughter or son as we begin this process. We will be encouraging the parents this fall to attend the parenting Sunday School class, so that they might also know how God can give them strength and wisdom in their parenting decisions, and also in life decisions. Be looking in upcoming bulletins and the Visitor, as we plan our Orientation meeting at the end of August or the first of September; and if you have any questions, give me a call at 332-2083, or stop in.
Blessings to all of you as you enjoy God’s wonderful gift of summer. Thanks for your faithful commitment to our youth programs.
In Christ’s love and friendship, Dave Hobbs

JOEL COMMITTEE
Our Joel Committee has been working hard on making some positive changes toward church improvement. Not everything can be done at once, it is a long process, but one in which we are each committed and determined to continue to share our time and talents as needed. As a result of the meeting with Scott Hibben, we feel that changes need to be made very soon in our worship services. Experience and studies pointed out to us that worship services are even better for everyone when opportunities for participation are shared by church members and their pastors.
As a result, we welcome Karen Day as our new Volunteer Coordinator. We are delighted that Karen has agreed to share her gifts of organization (and talking to people). She will soon be contacting members to assist in our worship services in the areas of reading scripture, making announcements, sharing testimony, special music, and maybe other things as time goes on. We have many talented folks within our congregation and we want to give you the opportunity to share those talents! But you don’t have to wait for Karen to contact you, please feel free to give Karen a call at 373-6226 or email taren@speednet.com. What can you offer?
And if you have questions, suggestions, concerns for the Joel Committee, please do not hesitate to contact any of us. We are here to listen and work for, but most importantly, with you!

Joel Committee “Minimum Factor” Ideas/
Thoughts for Improvement of
Loving Relationships:
1. Connecting with each other through small groups that will help build deeper relationships and that are “Needs” or “Theme” oriented.
2. Supporting small groups in reaching out and involving more people.
3. Providing ministry / small group informational packets.
4. Key issue: resolving “unresolved conflicts”.
5. Encouraging, complimenting, and supporting one another with less negativity. This is the responsibility of all of us.
Passionate Spirituality:
1. Let excitement and enthusiasm infuse all Church activities.
2. Incorporate variety in worship. Some come to worship to ‘absorb’ thoughts and ideas. Their spirituality is lower key. Others want more participation and high energy in their worship.
3. Address and engage issues of faith (what we believe and why) through sermons, The Visitor, and small groups.
4. Involve more young adults and teens in forming ideas and thoughts about our future and be willing to implement their ideas.
5. Encourage small group Bible Studies by accommodating times, topics.
6. Encourage more sharing of our joys and concerns with one another one on one, in worship and other opportunities as they present themselves.
(The “Joel” Committee is your Faith UMC’s “New Ministry Development Team”. We have surveyed the church and found two minimum healthy church factors of Faith UMC. They are Loving Relationships / Passionate Spirituality. We are asking you to provide your insight, suggestions, and reflections on why they are our minimum factors

July 4th “What A Country”
I give thanks to God for our country – U.S.A., for our freedoms, for our resources of people and land, for our history, for being able to change our government leadership without revolution.
I enjoy listening to Yacob Smirnoff (comedian) talk of his first days in this country. Responding to each surprise with “What A Country.” He discovered instant foods… I take instant coffee and add water and wow – coffee. “What A Country”. I take powered milk add water and wow – milk. “What A Country.” I take baby power and add water…“What A Country.”
I look over our country and see the incredible diversity. I say “What A Country.”
I see religious groups from every part of the world worshipping safely in our country. “What A Country.”
I witness the frustration and anger of politics but still we preserve the freedom to speak out and assemble. “What A Country.”
We have the ability to change our government leadership without violence. “What A Country.”
Last week we held prayer meetings on Immigration: 30 min with God and 60 min with each other. We found that there were more than 2 sides, each person who came carried stories, pain, part of the “revealed” truth of 2010 Immigration issues. We did not resolve Immigration. We revealed the reality, the contradictory responses, the painful impact. We realized “Some of the Truth” of Immigration in 2010.

WE HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY FOR OUR COUNTRY, TO SHARE OUR VIEWS, TO TAKE TIME TO LISTEN TO EACH OTHER AND TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR OUR ACTIONS.
In this week’s Scripture Paul says,
13It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life. Just make sure that you don’t use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want to do and destroy your freedom. Rather, use your freedom to serve one another in love; that’s how freedom grows. 14For everything we know about God’s Word is summed up in a single sentence: Love others as you love yourself. That’s an act of true freedom. 15If you bite and ravage each other, watch out—in no time at all you will be annihilating each other, and where will your precious freedom be then? Galatians 5:13 - 15 (TMSG)
“What A Country”. God has blessed us.
